Behavioral Medicine and Consultation

The treatment goal of any behavior problem is to modify that behavior. However, the term behavior modification is vague and depends on the individual patient, behavior being addressed, patient environment and client commitment. Behavior modification might include counter-conditioning a fearful pet, to actively training an appropriate alternative behavior, or simply desensitizing a separation-distress pet to its owner leaving the house. In some cases, there are limits to how far behavior modification can go alone. Extreme situational stress or fear can interfere with learning and decision making. For situations such as these our licensed Veterinarians will guide you to a blended approach of medical therapy and redirection to improve the patient response and overall behavior.
